The truth of the process is: in the 8 thousand-year history of Yi Academy, the statement has prevailed only for a limited period of about 2 thousands of years from Ban Gu (32-92), a scholar in the Eastern Han Dynasty, who first assumed this statement, to today. Even in the 2 thousand-year period, not everybody but only the following groups of people have been its believers and promoters since the Eastern Han Dynasty:

The pro-Confucian followers who have tried to support and promote Confucianism s monopolization in the academic world by spreading Ban Gu s assumption that Yijing is originally a book of divination ;

Scholars who have believed in the new Confucian leader Zhu Xi s (1130-1200) duet that Yijing is originally a book of divination, but contains the laws of the nature . This has been the so-called two-point doctrine that has made Ban Gu s assumption become an official definition of divination book .

Skepticists who use the definition of divination book to completely negate Yijing.

Traditional practitioners of wits, such as fortune-teller, Feng Shui masters, quack doctors, itinerant entertainers, etc., who abuse Yijing as a book of divination to swindle others for money in the name of Yijing.

This book lists the systematical evidences from archaeological findings in matching with records in ancient literatures to reduce to absurdity of the fallacy Yijing is originally a divination book . Meanwhile, the evidences restore the truth of Yijing in the first 6 thousands of years, which were divided into two eras: prehistorical and historical. In prehistorical era, Yi academy was a practical knowledge system for people to realize the universe and develop science and technology for maintaining and improving their livelihood. In the historical era, Yi academy was increasingly deified to be the highest Holy Classic full of the Heavenly, Earth and Human laws to direct everything, including divination and other forms of decision making, in national affairs and people s livelihood.

Eng

A~SO

€{SO

Your inputs are always welcome!

You are welcome to input your comments, suggestions, supports and donations.

There is a bank account of our society for raising funds.

All proceeds will be used to fund publishing the books mentioned above, developing international cooperation on the theme, promoting Universe Yi research and education.

You can contact us by mail via our mailing address on the left side of the page or email at jvs@shaw.ca.

© 2004 The Canada Society of Yi Jing (The Book of Changes).
